Dual Degree Program

In this program you can earn two degrees in five years. The Physics-Engineering Dual Degree Program provides an option through which SFA students may complete requirements for a major in physics, a minor in mathematics and the core of courses that are part of the Pre-Engineering Program. Students who complete the dual degree curriculum outlined below will receive a B.S. degree in physics from SFA upon transferring back sufficient semester hours (approximately 30) from the upper-division engineering program. Of these 30 hours, six hours must be advanced engineering hours. The remainder may be core courses and electives. Upon completion of the Engineering Program at the engineering school, the student will receive a B.S. degree in engineering. Important: Students should contact engineering schools such as TAMU, UT Tyler, UTA, UTD, the University of Houston, and Texas Tech about the compatibility of the suggested curriculum with their program.

Physics Degree Program

Students may also consider obtaining a physics degree from SFA alone without the need for transferring. The example plan below shows the courses that would be required for a physics major with a math minor.
