$2000 Freshman Scholarship

Majors: Physics, Dual Degree, or Engineering Physics

A fund to reward and promote scholarly activity has been established by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stephen F. Austin State University. The primary purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to freshman students who demonstrate excellent prospects for study at the university level and who intend to complete studies in the physics program, the dual degree physics engineering program, or the engineering physics program at Stephen F. Austin State University. The maximum amount of a scholarship is $500 per regular semester for the freshman and sophomore years, and the number awarded is limited by the funds available. These scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and economic need is not a factor in selecting the recipients. They can be held in addition to other scholarships and grants received through the Office of Financial Aid. The Department of Physics and Astronomy welcomes applications from high school seniors for the Physics Scholarship.

Please explain your career objectives and choice of physics or engineering physics as a field of study. This should be a short essay that is about 250 words. You must state which of our programs you plan to follow.

Give the names and phone numbers (or email addresses) of three references (preferably from physics, chemistry and mathematics teachers in high school).
